Park Home Barbecue Safety
Summer is approaching, and what better time for a lush barbecue amongst friends or an intimate Friday evening! However, when it comes to your property, it’s essential that you take the proper precautions so that no accidents happen and damage to your Park Home when doing a barbecue. We’ve compiled a few essential tips for your next cookout. Check them out below:
1. Ensure the BBQ is at a Safe Distance
Whether you have an enclosed garden, patio or deck, you need to ensure the barbecue is 3 metres away from the building itself. You also ensure that it is on level ground to avoid it accidentally tipping over.
2. Have Fire Safety Items on Hand
This is an excellent idea, just in case your BBQ starts to become out of control and you need to put out the fire or coals. Whether it be a fire extinguisher, a fire blanket, a bucket of water or sand to help take out the flames instantly.
3. Plants, Grass and Shrubs
Keep the barbecue away from any foliage and grass, especially if they are dry, as even a spark or some fallout from the barbecue can ignite them very easily.
4. Check with your PO
Ensure that the Park Owner is happy for you to hold barbecues, as this may not be permitted depending on the park’s rules. It’s also worth checking that neighbours are fine with this if your Park Home are close to theirs, as it may be a bother with the smoke or smell.
5. Never leave it Unattended
Most importantly, never leave your Barbecue alone. Although it may seem safe to do so, fire can be very unpredictable, and it can throw sparks or embers, which are a risk to your Park Home.
